Maggie McKernan helped guide and shape five books of mine: hammering, nailing, scaffolding, and finally helping to put the structure in place. There is an enormous amount of trust and dedication that must be found in order to bring a writer's work to the marketplace. Maggie is the perfect person for that. Detailed report
What is this? This report examines the typescript in more detail, aiming to give an assessment of its potential in the market as well as a sense of the kind of editorial work that might be required before the work reaches the requisite standard. Again, the advice is frank and straightforward. This report will tell you (in the case of fiction) what is right or wrong with the plot, the style, the characters and the dialogue, giving specific suggestions for cutting, expanding and rewriting. Where it's judged appropriate, a short specimen section, or chapter, will be edited in detail to show the areas that need attention or rewriting.
Length of report: 6-8 pages
Fee: £6.00 per 1,000 words, with a minimum fee of £200
Timescale: 4-6 weeks from receipt.
