Christine Lo was born in Sabah (formerly British North Borneo) and educated in Singapore, York and London. She currently works at a publishing house in London. Formerly known as Christine Slenczka, she has translated Eagles and Angels by Juli Zeh (Granta, 2002) and Heart of Fire by Senait Mehari (Profile, 2006) from German into English and is one of the judges of the Schlegel-Tieck Prize for G­erman translation. She is working on an outline for a book about the colonial experience of the Chinese in Borneo.
