Michael Schmidt was born in Mexico in 1947 and studied at the universities of Harvard and Oxford. Poet, publisher, critic, academic, and writer of fiction, he is currently the University of Glasgow's first Professor of Poetry, he is also Convener of the M. Litt. in Creative Writing at the University of Glasgow.
